Game Week 4 Preview FPL

Another high scoring weekend in the premier league for goals in Gameweek 3, I feel like that will be the norm before the FA and government allows fans back in, whenever that may be. I am going to keep this rant short I hope, but I am seriously very disappointed in the way the game is progressing. The inclusion of VAR was to help the referee turn an incorrect decision to the right one, but also this season the handball law was re-written and there have been about 20 penalties from only 28 games. That’s nearly a penalty a game, about 8 have been given as handball. This handball law is beyond ridiculous, im sorry but those pundits who rallied for this has ruined the way football is being played. Players soon will be instructed to just kick or head the ball into a trailing hand, of those 8 penalties given as handball, probably 60% of them have been the incorrect call, Matt Doherty vs Southampton, one of the worse decisions I’ve seen since the start of the season, Lucas Digne heading the ball into the hand of Joel Ward, yes this one was away from the body but I believe was still in a natural position, lastly Eric Dier vs Newcastle, Jose Mourinho had every single storm to walk off down the tunnel, if I was him I would of done the same, it was an absolute joke, he was jumping for the ball, his back is turned and he didn’t know where the ball was going to go once Andy Carroll headed the ball, like that is very bad decision, I know as a Liverpool fan I shouldn’t probably say this, but I do feel for Spurs fans, yes the Doherty one didn’t change the result but this one against Newcastle did. So what does that mean for our fantasy teams? Are we going to just choose lots of penalty takers?

The football that’s being played is at some very high pace and the quality is very good since the lay-off between seasons were very short. Last Gameweek we had a good scoring round but the only “popular” striker to reach double figures was Jamie Vardy, the other “popular” player to have a good return was Bruno Fernandes. I don’t think the way forward will be choosing just penalty takers. This weekend it will be harder to win a penalty due to the backlash recently from the first 3 gameweeks.

We were dealt two blows over the last 10 days. Manchester City have no known strikers and Son didn’t come back after halftime versus Newcastle which made lots of coaches scratch their heads wondering why, but later on it has been confirmed that he is injured and won’t be back till after the international break. This week Spurs come up against Man UTD at Old Trafford. While Manchester City come up against free flowing Leeds. I believe that Leeds could possibly pull off an upset.

Unfortunately over the last few hours Sadio Mane from Liverpool has contracted COVID-19 and is in isolation, so those 200,000 managers that brought him in this week will have to offload him unless you don’t have good bench cover. My transfer was Mane to Salah. Liverpool come up against Villa who are currently sitting fourth in the table with 2 wins from 2 games but have a game in hand plus have played only recent championship teams. They come up against the Champions, while many believe that Villa could come away with some points from this game then they are deluded or I’m just being bias. If you look at each game that both teams have played then Liverpool are ahead just, but villa have only played Sheffield and Fulham.

So far nearly 800,000 managers have bought in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, he has scored in every game so far and could of had plenty more goals, he reminds me of Tammy Abraham from last season but he’s better than Tammy, Sorry Chelsea fans. The reason is Tammy started the season scoring numerous goals and then faded and I have a feeling DCL could do the same. I could be wrong but he is in some amazing form. I don’t think he will blank this weekend against Brighton but they come up against Liverpool after the international break and maybe then Everton might get found out, but they are playing some amazing football. Is he a captain option? Yes!

This week we find it very difficult to grab a captain unless you have Liverpool player or City player. Kevin De Bruyne or Mohamed Salah will likely be the two highest Captain choices closely followed by Vardy as Leicester come up against West Ham. I personally have bought Salah in a stuck the C straight on him, is that a stupid decision since he has the last game of the Gameweek? Most probably, I’ve done it numerous times in AFL fantasy (a Aussie Rules in Australia) and it hasn’t boded well for me but we should be okay with that decision.

My other transfer was Doherty -> Semedo, I am asking myself why am I doing that, but I’m just fed up of no clean sheets and no attacking returns from Doherty, yes last week he deserved the clean sheet and so did Lloris but VAR happened. I’ve gone Semedo even though I’ve got Mitrovic in attack, I’m not seeing many teams keeping clean sheets but there are plenty of goals going in which means bodes well for Semedo putting up an assist in the right wing back role. The best scenario would be Semedo playing 60 mins, getting his clean sheet, substituted then Mitrovic scoring but that being too technical.

Good luck this weekend and use that free transfer wisely.
