Newcastle United FPL Preview 2020/21

Ever since they’ve come back into the premier league they have been okay, they’ve beaten a few big teams along their travels. They’ve finished 13th for the last couple of seasons, and been safe from relegation with a few games to spare. If I was being honest I actually thought the geordies would beat Liverpool in the last game of the season. Last season they scored 38 goals and conceded 58 goals, but they kept 11 clean sheets, when Newcastle concede goals, they Leak them, on 9 different occasions they conceded 3 goals or more, so in regards to FPL terms that’s minus 1 or 2 points.

Last season in fantasy premier league Martin Dubravka was Newcastle’s highest scorer with 143 points, as mentioned before he kept 11 cleansheets, while making 139 saves, the most of any keeper. Only three other players scored over 100, Miguel Almiron, Jonjo Shelvey and Federico Fernandez.

Newcastle’s United opening 5 games are:

West Ham (A)

Brighton (H)

Tottenham (A)

Burnley (H)

Manchester United (H)

If Dubravka is fit and healthy for game week 1 he could possibly keep 2 clean sheets inside the first few games, but also from the last few seasons Newcastle they do concede a few goals in their opening games. Would we see them score a few goals and who do we have in attack for Newcastle, they are a huge unknown.

Goalkeeper:

Martin Dubravka (5.0): Currently on my radar at the moment due to all the save points he gets and how he kept 11 cleansheets last season. He scored 143 points as mentioned before. He is currently under an injury cloud with a problem with his heel but I do believe we should see him start in the first game of the season. Currently selected by only 2.0% of coaches.

Midfielders:

Matt Richie (5.0): Last season he played in a wingback position but not receive defending points from memory, he also missed a fair chunk of the season due to having an ankle injury. He scored 74 points last season from only 1312 minutes. He contributed 2 goals and 1 assist. In the previous seasons he’s gone over 110 points in the last three seasons and we could potentially see that happen again this season, he could be a steal at 5.0 if he can string lots of games together.

Miguel Almiron (6.0): Another player that is in my consideration. There might be some better players at 6.0m but I believe he can still produce the same as those players if not better, make sure you have him on your watch list. He was Newcastle’s second highest scorer for last season with 109 points. He scored 4 goals and contributed 2 assists from 3020 minutes. Currently in 1.0% of teams.

Allan Saint-Maximin (5.5): He his highly owned at 18.3% and for good reason, last season I totally understand he had a huge transition from Ligue 1 to Premier League. Last year he scored 92 from 1860 minutes scoring 3 goals and 5 assists. This season I reckon he will get over 120 points and hit 12 goal contributions, he is definitely in my considerations for my final team.

Forwards:

Joelinton (6.0): I definitely will not be picking him or his partner in crime Carroll, he scored 78 points from 2678, he scored 2 goals and contributed only 2 goals, if I’m being honest he is definitely not worth it and should be scoring more goals and providing more assists. In less than 1.0% of teams which I totally understand, no one trusts him and I don’t trust Steve Bruce in his team selections.

Andy Carroll (5.5): Probably one of the worse deals in Liverpool’s history but fair play to the lad he has been able to move on and get a few games, but he is getting older and I just don’t reckon there is much place for him in FPL teams. He scored 34 points from 617 minutes which if you compare it to Joelinton based on point per minute it’s much better but he didn’t score any goals he only provided 4 assists.
